Wow!! People are commenting
I was happy to see people have commented on some of my entries. I am sorry that I did not see them earlier, I wasn't expecting anyone to interface with the site, but it is great to see the posts.
As requested by Mr. Hunter I will elaborate slightly on my assignment. I do not know exactly what my mission will be, the director the Peace Corps in Azerbaijan reviews my resume and assigns me according to the positions that need to be filled. I can say it will be in economic and community development. Most likely, I will work with a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that uses their funding to develop small business expansion. Specifically, farmers and local business people will come to us to secure small loans to expand their business, probably in the form of a livestock purchase or maybe updating equipment. My guess would be I will work mostly with women, as most economic development in these countries encourage women to start their own businesses, since they are more likely than men to use the extra income on their families.
I wont know for sure till I am there, but because of the oil wealth of Azerbaijan, there are a number of NGO's in the region and lots of westerners, so there are probably a lot of great opportunities to work in Microenterprise development. This is important to me, since this is the same field I worked in while living in San Francisco.
